Pomona Choice Energy has released its updated Joint Rate Comparison (JRC) for 2025, providing Pomona residents and businesses with a comprehensive side-by-side comparison of electricity rates and energy sources between Pomona Choice Energy and Southern California Edison (SCE). The JRC compares residential, commercial and CARE-eligible electricity options, empowering the community to make informed decisions about their energy service.
“Transparency is at the heart of everything we do at Pomona Choice Energy,” said Pomona Mayor Tim Sandoval. “This JRC ensures all our residents and businesses have the information they need to choose the energy option that best fits their needs and values, whether that’s cost savings, renewable energy or supporting local energy independence in Pomona.”
The JRC is a standardized notification that allows customers to easily compare their energy options. It breaks down the total cost of electricity service into three main components: the generation rate for producing or purchasing electricity, SCE’s delivery rate for transmitting power through existing infrastructure and additional expenses, including cost responsibility charges and franchise fees for Pomona Choice Energy customers.
Beyond pricing, the JRC provides crucial information about the breakdown of different energy sources. While SCE’s 2024 energy mix was powered by 35.1% renewable sources along with natural gas and nuclear power, Pomona Choice Energy’s standard service offers 40.9% renewable energy with zero fossil fuel or nuclear generation. The Pomona Choice 100 option provides 41.3% renewable energy from verified sources, with significant wind energy components that support local and state climate goals.
The JRC empowers customers to weigh their priorities when choosing energy service. Pomona Choice Energy reinvests into local sustainability programs, electric vehicle infrastructure and community energy initiatives, providing additional community benefits beyond the direct service comparison.
