Offered in partnership with the California Choice Energy Authority, Tesla and Participate.Energy, the program installs a Tesla Powerwall without requiring a credit check or placing a lien on the property. Customers pay a monthly fee that appears on their utility bill, making the upgrade accessible for households that want the benefits of storage without a significant financial commitment.
The battery stores extra solar energy produced during the day and delivers power in the evening or during outages. This added layer of reliability helps residents stay prepared during wildfire-related shutoffs, weather-related disruptions and periods of high demand while also reducing dependence on the grid.
By pairing stored solar energy with steady monthly pricing over a 25-year agreement, the program gives customers stronger long-term cost control and helps them get more value from the energy their panels produce. The system runs on its own, charging when solar production is high and discharging when the home needs power, reducing grid electricity use during peak hours.
If a homeowner decides to sell, the Power Choice agreement transfers to the new owner without a new credit review. The buyer may also choose to purchase the system at fair market value.
