Pomona Choice Energy is helping local residents build home energy resilience and manage monthly electricity costs through the Power Choice Battery Retrofit program. The program provides an easy way to maximize your existing solar by adding battery storage. Featuring flexible guidelines, the initiative also allows eligible customers to add a home battery system even if they do not currently have solar panels installed.
Participating residents can take advantage of load shifting during high demand hours and enjoy energy backup during power outages. Getting started is easier than ever because the program requires no down payment and no credit check. Instead, customers simply pay a nominal monthly charge on their current bill for the battery.
Community adoption is already underway across the city; 14 charging systems have been fully installed for local households, with another 22 systems in the final stages of approval and installation.
Offered in partnership with the California Choice Energy Authority, Tesla and Participate.Energy, the program eliminates common financial barriers to clean energy upgrades.
The battery unit automatically stores extra energy to supply your home during peak evening hours or sudden grid failures. This added layer of backup power keeps critical appliances running during severe weather, safety shutoffs related to wildfires and periods of extreme regional grid stress.
Under an agreement spanning 25 years, customers gain price stability over the long term. If you decide to sell your home, the agreement transfers directly to the new buyer without requiring a new credit check. The buyer also has the option to purchase the system at fair market value.
You can begin the enrollment process online by entering your home address, uploading a copy of a recent utility bill and choosing your system package. Installation typically takes a few months, followed by a brief final approval period before your battery goes live.
