The California Choice Energy Authority (CalChoice) hosted its annual All-Member Meeting from September 11 to 13 in Rancho Mirage. The event provided an opportunity for CalChoice associate members to gather and engage in detailed discussions about regulatory affairs affecting community choice aggregators (CCAs).

Pomona Choice Energy was represented by Environmental Compliance Supervisor Julie Carver and Management Analyst Anthony Ortega at this year’s event. Julie and Anthony were joined by Deputy Finance Director Aleli Burgos, Principal Accountant Raul Marquez and Senior Accountant Christine Ginoza of Pomona Choice Energy’s Finance Team.

“The 2024 All-Member Meeting was a fantastic opportunity to learn about various CCAs and their unique programs across Southern California,” said Julie. “There is a lot of excitement in the CCA space right now, and it was great to connect with so many amazing people who share similar sustainability goals.”

The meeting featured a round-table discussion where each CCA shared updates on their programs and plans for 2025 and beyond. Pomona Choice Energy highlighted its Activated for Community Transformation and Sustainability (ACTS) program and its upcoming plans for an electric bike library, electric vehicle chargers, residential cool roofs and more innovative projects.

Event sponsors NRG led a presentation about current energy market conditions. Braun, Blaising & Wynn and the Deveau Burr Group conducted sessions covering regulatory and legislative updates, respectively, discussing upcoming bills and their effects on CCAs.

The sessions concluded with a case study led by Participate Energy, which focused on the Power Choice Commercial Pilot and details about program developments. Pomona Choice Energy is proud to offer this program to its customers, allowing them to install solar systems at their homes without any upfront costs.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for each CCA to learn from one another, but it wasn’t strictly seminars and discussion. CalChoice also led multiple fun activities for attendees to relax and engage with industry colleagues, including a memorable morning hike and a pickleball lesson.

“Collaborating with so many talented CCA leaders was an amazing opportunity,” Julie continued. “I enjoyed meeting new faces and reconnecting with colleagues who are dedicated to building a cleaner future in California. I’m already looking forward to next year’s meeting.”

Pomona Choice Energy is a proud associate member of CalChoice and looks forward to attending the 2025 CalChoice All-Member Meeting next year.
