Pomona Choice Energy is proud to announce a significant advancement in the City of Pomona’s commitment to sustainable transportation with the addition of eight Ford F-150 Lightning electric trucks to the City’s fleet. These state-of-the-art vehicles, featuring extended-range batteries, represent a major milestone in Pomona’s ongoing efforts to reduce carbon emissions and embrace clean energy solutions.
“These new electric trucks demonstrate our commitment to delivering a more sustainable future for our residents,” said Pomona Mayor Tim Sandoval. “By transitioning our municipal fleet to emission-free vehicles, we’re taking concrete action toward our climate goals for our community.”
The Ford F-150 Lightning trucks offer utility and capability for City operations, along with all the environmental benefits of all-electric vehicles. The extended-range battery option provides enhanced mileage on a single charge, ensuring these vehicles can meet the demands of municipal work throughout Pomona without compromising on performance.
To support this growing electric fleet, the City of Pomona, EVCS and The Energy Coalitions through the Transformative Climate Communities Grant is also working to install additional charging infrastructure to the City’s Court parking lot, just across the street from City Hall. The new charging stations will not only service the current fleet of eight Lightning trucks but are designed with future expansion in mind as the City continues to transition toward an all-electric fleet.
These initiatives align closely with California’s broader goals for electric transportation and Pomona Choice Energy’s mission to provide sustainable energy solutions. By bringing electric vehicles into daily municipal operations, the City is demonstrating the potential of electric transportation while gaining valuable experience that informs future community-wide EV initiatives.
